How it works
Smart Reorder looks at every order that was not cancelled over the last 90 days (you can change this). Recent weeks count three times as much as the oldest weeks, so the forecast follows products that are picking up or slowing down.
For each product it shows:
- Sells / day — the average units sold per day, with an arrow showing whether sales are going up or down.
- In stock and On order — stock in the store and units on purchase orders that are not approved yet.
- Runs out — the date stock will run out at the current speed.
- Status — Out of stock, Order now (will run out before a new delivery arrives), Order soon (runs out within a week after that), Enough stock or No sales.
Settings
Open Forecast settings on the page:
- Sales history to use — how many days of orders to look at.
- Supplier delivery time — days from placing an order until the stock is in your store.
- Order enough for — how many days each order should last.
- Check expiry for the next — how far ahead the expiry check looks.
The product's reorder level is kept as extra safety stock on top of the forecast.
Creating a purchase order
The Reorder list groups products by supplier with a suggested quantity. Change any quantity (set it to 0 to skip a product) and click Create purchase order. A pending purchase is created with each product's cost price. Check it and approve it when the stock arrives — stock is only added on approval, exactly like a normal purchase.
Products without a supplier are listed under No supplier set; choose the supplier before creating the order.
Expiry risk
Batches with an expiry date in the coming weeks are checked against the sales speed. Older batches are sold first, so the page shows how many units of each batch will probably still be on the shelf when it expires, and what they cost you.
Slow movers
Products in stock with no sales, or with enough stock for more than 180 days, sorted by the money tied up in them.
Who can use it
People with Stock Control or Manage Purchases can see the forecast. Only people with Manage Purchases can change the settings and create purchase orders.
